Avernum 3 Gazetteer
- This gazetteer describes the towns of Upper Avernum and Valorim, and what you can expect to find there. This geographical arrangement is the way I keep my notes as I go along.
- To find information about a particular thing, use the ‘find in page’
function of your browser (usually Ctrl+F).
- Avernum 3 is a huge game and it’s easy to get lost.

- The Anama are a religious denomination who believe that magi magic is harmful. They suppress mages and promote the power of prayer (i.e., priest spells). They are based in Shayder.
- It can be fun to play the game as a member of the Anama - but that means no mage spells, remember, in particular no haste, no unlock doors, no far sight and no dispel barrier. You’ll have to get by with elixirs, crystals and scrolls. There are useful shops selling some of these items in Shayder (Anama-only), in the mountains north of Sharimik (Anama-only), in Greendale, in Bremerton, in Squiggus and at the Southpoint Lighthouse. There is also an Anama-only herb shop in the temple in Lorelei.
- When you join the Anama all your mage spells skill is taken away (assuming you had any), but all your PCs gain two levels of priest spells skill. You are also given access to spell books in Shayder which teach you for free the following spells at level 2: healing, curing, war blessing, terror, repel spirit, smite, summon shade, safe travel, unshackle mind and move mountains. You can also learn divine fire (L3) and divine restoration (L3) in Shayder.
